Description

A UT Tyler Rose Scholar is defined as a student who would be an exemplary representative on behalf of The University of Texas at Tyler. This scholar will represent UT Tyler in the community at events including but not limited to the Rose Festival, along with 5 hours per week in the office of Community Engagement. Two students will be selected for this position.

Rose Scholars are also expected to represent the University in both outreach programs and special campus-wide events held throughout the academic year. The Rose Scholar is awarded a scholarship disbursement which will include all tuition, fees, books, room and board.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all Rose Festival Activities including events listed below:
    • Texas Rose Festival Kickoff Celebration
    • Texas Rose Festival Ribbon Cutting and Morning
      Prayer Service
    • Texas Rose Festival Men’s/Ladies’ Luncheon
    • Texas Rose Festival Matinee Coronation
    • Texas Rose Festival Evening Coronation
    • Texas Rose Festival Parade
    • Texas Rose Festival Queen’s Tea
  • Five hours in the Community Engagement Office
  • Participate in community events at the discretion of the Community Engagement
