Biography

Dr. Vivek Pandey was not always a doctor. Heck! He ain’t much of a doctor now. He sure can’t heal any ailments. Born in India, he had a classic third-world upbringing, drinking tap water and consuming food hawked by street vendors. He managed to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Andhra University in Waltair, India, before leaving his homeland. His family and friends did not need much persuasion and were pleased to see him leave. Vivek’s pursuit for the meaning of life led him to the MBA program in the scenic mountains of Appalachia at Western Carolina University.

After obtaining his MBA degree, he sought to reverse the trend of mass emigration from the state of Mississippi and enrolled in the Doctor of Business Administration program at Mississippi State University. Upon completion of his doctorate, Dr. Pandey has had some apparent trouble holding down a job and has worked at various academic institutions in Mississippi, Kentucky, and now in Texas. Currently, he is employed in the capacity of a tenured Professor of Finance at UT Tyler. Over time, his professional interests have also led him to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and the Financial Risk Management (FRM) certifications.

Vivek Pandey is an avid researcher and has studied the implications of chaos theory on financial markets. Another research interest of Dr. Pandey is the application of game theory to business decisions. Among the clutter on his desk lie a few plaques for various research and teaching awards, plaques that look very similar to those that may be obtained from your local trophy store.
