Students within The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Literature and Languages
will hold a public colloquium on Saturday, April 14.
The “Pixels, Panels, and Prose: Science Fiction and Fantasy” Colloquium will be 11
a.m. – 6 p.m. in the University Center theater.
The event is to provide fans and professionals the opportunity to discuss the relevance
of art forms such as anime, film, graphic novels and video games in pop culture today.
Drew Karpyshyn, a lead writer in the video game industry, will serve as this year’s
keynote speaker. He has worked on several award-winning projects, including the Mass Effect series and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, among others.
He also will discuss his background as a novelist and technical writer as well as
his approach to the sci-fi and fantasy genre in writings owned by other companies
and in genres created independently.
University sponsors are UT Tyler Department of Literature and Languages, Sigma Tau
Delta, UT Tyler Anime Club, UT Tyler Game Club, Friends of the Arts and the honors
program.
