The University of Texas at Tyler will kick off the 2012 – 13 academic year with 2012 Convocation Friday, Aug. 17, President Rodney H. Mabry announced.

Convocation begins at 8:30 a.m. in the University Center theater.

President Mabry will give the state of the university address. Officials also will introduce new faculty members and present academic and service awards.

Fall classes begin Monday, Aug. 20.
