The UT Tyler Department of Biology will hold a public lecture about sustainability
and biodiversity conservation, Dr. Srini Kambhampati, Sam A. Lindsey professor and
biology department chair, announced.
Dr. Sahotra Sarkar, professor of biology and philosophy at UT Austin, will present
“Sustainability and Conservation of Nature” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the UT
Tyler University Center theater. He will discuss the planet’s current state as well
as future prospects for biodiversity conservation.
An accomplished biologist and philosopher, Sarkar has written many journals articles,
book chapters and books on varied topics including biology, philosophy, conservation
biology and sustainability. His teaching and research encompass mathematical logic,
environmental ethics, aesthetics and Marx.
