The UT Tyler Department of Art and Art History will co-sponsor a fundraiser held jointly
with the semiannual Art Club art sale on campus, Gary Hatcher, department chair, announced.
The sale will be 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 and Thursday, Nov. 1 in the University
Center breezeway.
Items such as drawings, paintings, prints, ceramics and jewelry made by UT Tyler art
students will be sold. This year, the event will benefit the East Texas Food Bank
through the sale of handmade ceramic bowls, made by students participating in the
Empty Bowls program.
“This is a national organization that helps fight hunger locally,” said Merrie Wright,
assistant professor of art. “There will be a table at the art sale full of ceramic
bowls dedicated to this fundraiser, along with information about the Empty Bowls program.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of these bowls will be donated to
fight hunger here in Tyler."
