The UT Tyler Police Department is assisting one of their own this summer, Mike Medders,
chief of police, announced.
The department, along with the Texas System Police Association, is sponsoring a money
tree for Public Safety Officer Alice Maire after learning of her sudden diagnosis
with uterine cancer in May. Maire has served UT Tyler since 2006.
“When an officer is in need, we do what we can to step up and help out regardless
of the circumstances – whether they be personal or family matters,” said Michael Seale,
UT Tyler police sergeant. “We know that with something like this, the financial and
emotional strain is great, so we’d like to do anything we can do to help.”
Donations will be collected through Monday, July 1.
