The UT Tyler Police Department has collected 179 toys for the Children's Advocacy
Center of Smith County, police chief Mike Medders announced.
"We're extremely happy to present these toys to the Children's Advocacy Center," Medders
said. "Each year the university police department conducts a charitable function during
the holiday season, and we look forward to giving back."
The Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County is dedicated to child victims of physical
and sexual abuse and strives to reduce trauma through a unified effort that facilitates
thorough investigations, effective prosecutions and the healing of the children and
their families.
In past years, the department has collected toys for Child Protective Services and
the Rainbow Room and also held fundraisers to assist families in need, Medders added.
