Lake Drive and a portion of campus recreational walkways will be temporarily closed due to the construction of the W.T. Brookshire Pharmacy Building, Chip Clark, interim assistant vice president for facilities management, announced.
Vaughn Construction will begin installation of security fencing for the project site on Thursday, March 27. The overall project completion date is May 31, 2015.
“For pedestrian safety and logistical purposes, Lake Drive will be limited to construction access only, therefore pedestrian access will be re-routed,” Clark said. “It is important to note the pedestrian access pathway, in the vicinity of the lower lake, will be to traverse the walkway on the dam that links the Stewart Administration and Muntz Library Buildings. For example, to walk from Ornelas Hall to the Fine Arts Complex one would walk across the dam between the two lakes.”
Pedestrian access along the western edge of lower Harvey Lake will be open to pedestrian recreational access as soon as construction of the drainage structures is completed.
Signage will be posted around the specified area to aid pedestrians on campus.
