RICHARDSON – UT Tyler senior Melissa Miller has earned the first American Southwest Conference honor of her career after being named the ASC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Miller led the Patriots defense and added two goals against LeTourneau and had an assist against East Texas Baptist in a pair of 5-0 wins last week. Miller's defense helped limit the opposition to only one shot on goal in the two shutout wins combined.

An ASC All-Academic selection last season, she has been a key part to a defense that has allowed only two goals through the first 10 games of the season. Miller now has three goals this season and four in her career.

As a defender, Miller has eight shots on goal this season while the opposition has only 19 against the Patriot defense. More...
