The TEXO Association recently recognized UT Tyler for its newest campus buildings, President Rodney H. Mabry announced.
The Center for the Musical Arts and W.T. Brookshire Hall both received association Merit Awards, which annually acknowledges projects of outstanding construction and design in North and East Texas. Architects for the buildings are Jacobe Brothers Construction, LTD and J. T. Vaughn Construction, LLC, respectively.
"The Center for the Musical Arts and W.T. Brookshire Hall are both excellent examples of quality architecture," President Mabry said. "Brookshire Hall leads the list of the best college of pharmacy facilities in the nation, and the Center for the Musical Arts is a model example of how a space can be skillfully designed to meet a specific need. We are proud to have worked with an amazing team of architects and builders on both projects."
W.T. Brookshire Hall is home of the UT Tyler Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy. The university broke ground for its construction April 2014. The three-story $26.5 million building was designed to encourage student-faculty interaction and support the new college's innovative teaching methods. Officials held a grand opening ceremony September 2015.
UT Tyler broke ground on the Center for the Musical Arts January 2015. The 15,000-square-foot $6.5 million center, which features state-of-the-art rehearsal spaces and teaching studios, is an addition on the southeast side of the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. A grand opening ceremony was held this April.
TEXO combines the two largest national construction associations to unify, advocate and advance the construction industry in North and East Texas. For more information, visit their website.
