The UT Tyler Department of Health and Kinesiology will host board-certified cardiologist
Dr. Tom Sarma, UT Southwestern Medical Center assistant professor. Sarma will present
the public lecture, "Eating Your Way to Heart Failure" noon – 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday,
Nov. 9 in the University Center Theater. A question and answer session will follow.
Sarma is currently funded by the American Heart Association in a four-year large-scale
study to examine the impact of high intensity exercise training and omega-3 fatty
acids in high-risk heart failure individuals.
He also is currently collaborating with UT Tyler's Health & Kinesiology assistant
professor Dr. Benjamin Tseng, who received an AHA research grant to potentially revise
the association's stroke prevention guidelines by investigating the effectiveness
of exercise to reduce stroke risks in certain older adult populations.
For more information, contact Tseng, 903.566.7042 or btseng@uttyler.edu.
