One Way Alumni Give Back to the Soules College of Business
UT Tyler encourages its alumni to stay connected and involved. One of the opportunities
for Soules College of Business alumni to get involved is through the biannual Mock
Team Interviews event, hosted by the Soules College of Business and coordinated by
Gail Johnson, a professional branding leader and UT Tyler adjunct lecturer.
MTI events give business professionals the opportunity to provide a professional interview
experience and direct feedback on a student’s interviewing technique. This semester,
nearly 40 businesses participated, and UT Tyler alumni represented nearly half of
the 51 total participants.
Johnson regularly keeps in touch with her former students and asks them to participate
as they advance in their careers. One of those alums, Sarah Crawford ('17, BBA in
human resource development), is eager to help next spring. She originally participated
as a UT Tyler student in Johnson’s capstone class. “It meant a lot to me to go through
the process. That course really helped me as far as showing me the real-world application
of everything I’d learned,” said Crawford, who serves as the human resources manager
for the city of Kilgore since April 2024. “I like to invest in the up-and-coming professionals
in this line of work. . .I have a heart for higher education, and I would love to
be involved in any way that I can be.”
