Dean's Message
Dear Alumni, Donors and Friends,
In many ways, we had a record year. The UT Tyler College of Engineering has become
a perennial top 100 program in U.S. News & World Report rankings. This was the seventh
consecutive year it ranked among the top 100 undergraduate engineering programs.
We graduated our first students in Computer Engineering and Construction Engineering. For the second consecutive year, a College of Engineering faculty member received the prestigious and highly competitive National Science Foundation CAREER Award. The Concrete Canoe Team finished second at regionals and was invited as a wildcard to nationals, marking our third such appearance in the past handful of years. Our research enterprise continues to grow, yielding new knowledge, innovations and impactful opportunities for our students.
This fall, the Department of Computer Science will join the College, which, together with the Jasper Department of Chemical Engineering, the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering and Management, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, forms the most comprehensive engineering college in the region — a powerhouse for engineering education, innovation and workforce development.
Over the past decade, the UT Tyler College of Engineering has achieved national prominence through its commitment to teaching excellence, student success and innovation. We are grateful for your continued support and partnership as we build a future defined by impact, opportunity and discovery.
Warm Regards,
Javier A. Kypuros, Ph.D.
Dean, College of Engineering
