UT Tyler Lecturer Named Outstanding Accounting Educator by State CPA Society

MarksDavid Marks, a lecturer in accounting at The University of Texas at Tyler, received the 2025 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award in the Medium College/University category by the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

The prestigious award annually recognizes Texas accounting educators who demonstrate excellence in teaching and have distinguished themselves through active service to the accounting profession.

“This is a well-deserved honor and recognition for David’s work in and out of the classroom for our students,” said Dr. Tammy Cowart, UT Tyler professor of business law and chair of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Business Law.

Marks joined the UT Tyler accounting faculty in 2020, having a varied professional career in public accounting, financial services, marketing and higher education.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the State University of New York College at Brockport and a Master of Professional Accounting degree from UT Arlington.
