UT Tyler Associate Dean Appointed to ABET Board of Delegates

NalboneDr. J. Torey Nalbone, professor and associate dean of The University of Texas at Tyler College of Engineering, has been appointed to the 2025–26 ABET Board of Delegates for a two-year term.

ABET is an accrediting agency that certifies post-secondary programs in engineering, engineering technology, computing, and applied and natural sciences meet quality standards and prepares graduates for their respective fields. Nalbone will contribute his insights and expertise to ABET as a board member.

“We congratulate Dr. Nalbone on this appointment,” said Dr. Javier Kypuros, dean of the UT Tyler College of Engineering. “He has a strong commitment to improving engineering education, and I am confident he will serve the board well.”

With more than two decades of experience in industry, Nalbone joined UT Tyler in 2003. After serving in numerous faculty and leadership roles, he was named associate dean for the College of Engineering in 2022. As associate dean, Nalbone oversees the college’s academics, advising and student engagement efforts. His teaching and research interests cover civil engineering, air pollution control, indoor environmental quality and health protection engineering.

He holds a doctorate in interdisciplinary engineering with a concentration in health protection from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in environmental science-engineering from UT Dallas.

Memberships include the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, American Industrial Hygiene Association and American Society of Testing Materials.
