Dr. Adam McGuire Recognized for Excellence, Dedication to Student Success
Dr. Adam McGuire, an associate professor of psychology at The University of Texas at Tyler, is one of 12 recipients of the UT System 2025 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award.
“The Board of Regents is proud to recognize these educators for their dedication to the core values of teaching excellence and student success,” said UT System Board of Regents Chairman Kevin P. Eltife. “We are truly grateful for the role they play in preparing and inspiring the next generation of Texas leaders and innovators.”
McGuire, who joined the College of Education and Psychology faculty in 2019, teaches advanced psychology courses at UT Tyler. He also directs clinical training for the university’s clinical psychology doctoral program and has been instrumental in providing exceptional research experiences and opportunities for UT Tyler doctoral students.
He holds a dual appointment as a research investigator with the Veterans Integrated Service Network 17 Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans in Waco. Through that role, McGuire recently obtained a $1.2 million merit award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to begin a four-year clinical trial that will investigate PTSD and moral injury among Texas veterans.
Established in 2008, the awards recognize faculty across the UT System who leverage excellence, innovation, creativity and dedication to deliver the highest quality of instruction to students. Each recipient receives a certificate, a medallion and a cash award in appreciation of their positive impact. To learn more, visit utsystem.edu.
