Public receptions set for March 17 and March 19 on campus
Artwork by Emily Everitt and Audrey Jeanes, graduate students at The University of Texas at Tyler, both of Canton, is on display now through Friday, March 27, in spring 2026 thesis exhibitions.
Everitt’s Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, “Freak Weirdo Loser,” is an installation at the UT Tyler Meadows Gallery inspired by habitual sketch-booking and the need to understand the complexities of emotions. In this work, she looks closely at reoccurring feelings using clay and fabric to make a personal installation of giant pieces of paper, fuzzy words and bottled vessels.
A public reception will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the gallery, located in the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. She will graduate this spring with a UT Tyler Master of Fine Arts degree.
Jeanes’ Master of Arts thesis exhibition, "After Glow," is displayed at the UT Tyler Fine Arts Complex Gallery. Her show explores light and its interaction with materials –– interpretations of sunsets and sunrises, personifications of lighting effects and the explorations of color and material. This concept is portrayed in large-scale wall pieces of handmade paper and fabric as well as ceiling pieces of formed hardware cloth, with the handmade paper and fabric woven through it.
A public reception with artist talk will be 6 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the gallery. She will graduate this spring with a Master of Arts in studio arts degree with the intent to pursue a UT Tyler Master of Fine Arts this fall.
Both gallery hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, contact Michelle Taff, UT Tyler gallery, community outreach and education coordinator, at mtaff@uttyler.edu or 903.566.7237.
