Dr. Torry Tucker, associate dean for research at The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, was selected as a board member for the American Journal of Respiratory and Cellular
Molecular Biology, a major scientific journal of the American Thoracic Society.
“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Tucker for achieving this well-deserved honor, which recognizes his national leadership in pulmonary science,” said Dr. Sue Cox, UT Tyler School of Medicine dean. “We know his expertise will be invaluable in shaping the future of respiratory research through this role.”
The American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology is a publication dedicated to understanding lung health and disease at the cellular level. Editorial board members are selected from across the nation for their scientific excellence and leadership in the field. As a member of the board, Tucker will guide the peer review process and promote high-impact research for the global scientific community.
“It is a privilege to serve on the editorial board for such a respected journal within the American Thoracic Society,” said Tucker. “I look forward to collaborating with fellow experts to advance the discovery of innovative treatments and enhance our understanding of complex lung diseases to improve patient outcomes, both in East Texas and across the nation.”
In addition to his role as associate dean for research, Tucker serves as an associate professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology. He became a faculty member in 2009, after completing his postdoctoral fellowship at the UT Tyler Health Science Center. Since then, he has written and contributed to dozens of scientific papers focused on lung health. He has also developed several new models that are vital for understanding how these diseases begin and treatment options.
