The BAAS degree is designed to advance students marketable skills. The following chart details some of the marketable skills for our majors.

 

After completing the BAAS degree program at UT Tyler, the student can:

  • Address challenging problems and issues through: creative thinking, inquiry, innovation, analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of information including numerical data or observable facts.

Thematic Concentration - Human Behavior:

  • Help others develop plans to reduce bias and prejudice at work and in communities
  • Advise others about what to expect from individuals across lifespan developmental stages, birth to death
  • Create opportunities and activities to develop healthy and life enhancing behavioral strategies and habits
  • Improve communication and interpersonal processes across individuals and groups
  • Recommend ways to add health enhancing behaviors, skills and habits to their daily lifestyles
  • Recognize personality differences in self and others and use that understanding to improve work activity and groups
  • Understand the challenges facing those with mental illness
  • Career supports throughout the entire degree program
  • Respond in an ethical manner by connecting data, behavior, choices, consequences to ethical theories.

  • Communicate with patients, clients, students, or the general public about health promotion and personal and community health and wellness.
  • Create effective documents about health promotion and personal and community health and wellness.
  • Explain the basic structure of the U.S. healthcare system.
  • Interpret advertising and media claims regarding health and wellness using an evidence-based approach.
  • Explain basic information related to human psychology and mental health.
 
  • Communicate ideas effective through written, oral, and visual delivery modes.

Thematic Concentration - Healthcare Management:

  • Communicate effectively regarding health and healthcare management.
  • Create effectively documents about health and healthcare management.
  • Use principles of business management in healthcare settings.
  • Explain the basic structure of the U.S. healthcare system.
