Chair, Department of Population Health Leadership & Analytics
Thank you for your interest in UT Tyler and the 
Department of Population Health Leadership & Analytics. The department includes twelve
full-time faculty memebers dedicated to study of the population health and committed
to preparing students for successful careers related to health professions.
We proudly serve approximately 200 undergraduate students across programs such as the BAAS in Health Care Management, BAAS in Health Occupations, and BS in Health Sciences, as well as 100 graduate students pursuing either an MPH or an MHA. Our graduates excel in diverse roles, including state and local health services, clinical and hospital administration, nonprofit leadership, program management, and research.
Our faculty are engaged in dynamic research and scholarship, offering students the chance to learn from and participate in impactful projects. Current research areas include:
- Chronic Disease and Cancer Prevention: Cervical and colorectal cancer screening and prevention, cognitive decline, and developmental delays in children.
- Global and Community Health: Health disparities in rural Kenya, US-Mexico border migrant health, and community health worker access.
- Public Health and Environmental Policy: Water quality, environmental health literacy, and rural water systems.
- Health Behavior and Education: Smoking risks in HIV populations, sleep behavior, maternal health, and public health informatics.
- Religion and Population Health: Religion, religious diversity, and politics as determinants of health across U.S. counties.
- Quantitative and Systematic Research Methods: Meta-analyses and advanced statistical applications.
- Maternal, Child, and Reproductive Health: Maternal health outcomes, sexual and reproductive health, sex education, and social and policy influences on health.
