Education within the Department of Medicine

We are a dynamic and expanding team of academic and community internal medicine physicians and medical subspecialists committed to undergraduate and graduate medical education. Our goal is to train the next generation of medicine specialists while promoting the well-being of the East Texas community.

Our department supports a wide array of training initiatives, including medicine clerkships, internal medicine residency, neurology residency, transitional (preliminary) year, and various fellowships such as cardiology, gastroenterology, hematology and oncology, hospice and palliative medicine, nephrology, and pulmonary and critical care. Additionally, we will begin offering advanced training in interventional cardiology in 2026.

Our faculty members actively engage in patient care, research and quality improvement initiatives. They closely collaborate with various research laboratories and departments within the School of Medicine, creating numerous opportunities for academic collaboration and scholarly projects.

We cordially invite you to discover the many opportunities offered through our programs, and we look forward to welcoming you as a valued member of our team.
