Dr. Serpa is a Professor of Medicine and the Vice Chair for Education and Faculty Development in the Department of Medicine at the University of Texas at Tyler. He is an infectious disease physician with extensive experience in medical education, patient care, and healthcare administration. Prior to joining UT Tyler, he directed the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program and served as the Vice Chief of Education for Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Serpa has made significant contributions to various national scientific society committees and is a member of a study section for a federal agency. He possesses clinical and research expertise in the field of HIV medicine and sexually transmitted infections. Furthermore, he previously held the position of Medical Director of HIV Services at the Harris Health System in Houston, Texas.
