Policy: 1.7 Purpose and Scope of the Program Manual
The official policies, procedures, and expectations that govern the UT Tyler Physician
Assistant
Studies Program serve as a comprehensive reference for students, principal faculty,
instructional
faculty, preceptors, program administrators, and staff. The purpose of these policies
is to ensure
consistent understanding of program standards, promote compliance with University
and School
of Medicine policies, and support adherence to ARC-PA Accreditation Standards.
Program policies and procedures apply to all students, principal faculty, and the
Program
Director regardless of instructional or clinical location. This includes all didactic
instruction
sites, supervised clinical practice experience sites, program-sponsored activities,
and any other
location where program requirements are completed.
The policies and procedures are developed in alignment with, and in commitment to,
full
compliance with the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician
Assistant
(ARC-PA) Standards. They are reviewed and updated regularly to maintain accuracy and
alignment with institutional policy, accreditation standards, and best practices in
PA education.
In the event of a conflict, University or School of Medicine policy supersedes program-level
policy unless otherwise specified. A signed clinical affiliation agreement or memorandum
of
understanding may specify that certain program policies are superseded by policies
or
requirements of the clinical site.
The Program reserves the right to revise policies and procedures to ensure continued
alignment
with the mission of the PA Studies Program, the School of Medicine, and The University
of
Texas at Tyler. Students will be notified via University email when policy changes
occur. The
most current versions of program policies are maintained on the program website.
