The University of Texas at Tyler defines, publishes, makes readily available, and consistently applies policies and procedures for processing student allegations of harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, retaliation, and related complaints. These procedures are published through the University Catalog, Student Handbook, Handbook of Operating Procedures, Title IX resources, and Student Affairs complaint and grievance processes. The University has established reporting and investigation procedures for allegations involving sexual harassment, discrimination based on protected status, disability discrimination, academic complaints, and non-academic student complaints.
The UT Tyler Physician Assistant Studies Program adheres to all applicable University policies governing student complaints, harassment reporting, discrimination, Title IX matters, investigations,and appeals. Students are informed of these policies during orientation, through the Student Handbook, course syllabi, and University resources. Program-specific guidance is provided in the UT Tyler Physician Assistant Studies Program Policy 5.0 Conduct Professionalism section 5.4 Prohibited conduct, pg 84, UT Tyler Physician Assistant Studies Program Section 8-Student Protection Policies, section 8.2 student rights and responsibilities, pg 115, section 8.3 student grievance and complaint policy, pg 116 where reporting procedures, professional conduct expectations, student complaint mechanisms, and available institutional resources are described.
Students may report allegations of harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, retaliation, or other prohibited conduct through the Title IX Office, Dean of Students, Student Accessibility and Resources Office, Academic Affairs, or other designated University reporting channels as appropriate. Complaints are reviewed and investigated through established institutional procedures that ensure fairness, confidentiality, due process, and protection against retaliation.
Through the implementation of these institutional and program policies, the University and Physician Assistant Studies Program ensure that students have access to clearly defined, published, and consistently applied procedures for reporting and resolving allegations of harassment, thereby satisfying the requirements of ARC-PA Standard A1.02j.
