Curriculum

The Executive MBA in Healthcare Management is a 36-credit-hour AACSB-accredited degree program offered in a cohort format that spans across six semesters in a lock-step approach. Move through courses as a cohort, engaging in rich learning experiences as you build your professional skill set and network.

Expand and solidify your knowledge of business fundamentals as they relate to the healthcare industry through courses like Organizational Behavior, Strategic Leadership Process and Advanced Financial Management. Master the details of the healthcare industry with classes including Issues in the American Healthcare System and Healthcare IT and Informatics.

As you progress through the program:

  • Gain a practical understanding of the major facets of business operations, including financial, human resources and operations management, with an emphasis on the healthcare field.

How to Apply

The Executive MBA in Healthcare Management program is open to professionals that hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution who are interested in bridging the gap between the clinical and business aspects of the healthcare industry, becoming the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Applicants must have a minimum of three years of managerial experience.

Your application must include the following:

  • A completed online application.
  • Official transcripts, submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  • Official GMAT scores, submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions. Applicants with three or more years of extensive managerial work experience may request to have the GMAT requirement waived by the program. This decision is made on a case-by-case basis; "extensive managerial experience" typically means a full-time supervisory or managerial position held for a significant period of time after completing the bachelor's degree, as demonstrated with a résumé. Once admitted into the EMBA-HCM program, a nonrefundable acceptance fee of $1,000 is due to hold the student’s seat. Failure to pay this fee may result in the denial of the applicant’s seat. The $1,000 fee is applied toward the overall program cost.

Earn an MBA in Healthcare Management in the way that works best for you. At UT Tyler, you have two options:

  • Executive Cohort Healthcare Management: Learn face-to-face in an executive cohort model that meets twice a month on Friday evening through Saturday afternoon during a 15-week semester alongside industry professionals.
  • Accelerated Online: Finish in as little as 12 months with compact, seven-week semesters, 100% online. This format offers a Healthcare Management concentration.

The Executive MBA Healthcare Management program has a cost of $35,000 for the 2023 cohort. The program cost is all-inclusive, including tuition, student fees, textbooks, meals during program meetings, graduation regalia, etc. Reduced tuition rates are offered to participating health systems. Executive MBA, Weekend Sessions:

This program enrolls one cohort every other year. The application deadline fluctuates. Contact the program for more details. We accept applications until the first week of classes.

Accelerated MBA, Seven-Week Sessions:

There are six possible start dates throughout the year. The application deadlines are as follows:

  • Fall session 1: August 21
  • Fall session 2: October 9
  • Spring session 1: January 9
  • Spring session 2: February 26
  • Summer session 1: April 29
  • Summer session 2: June 17
