Curriculum

The master’s in industrial management is a 36-credit-hour course of study you can complete in two years. The curriculum prepares you for positions in industrial management and related areas with a practical combination of broad managerial knowledge and focused domain-specific training.

Learn the basics of research methods, and discover emerging industry trends in your initial classes. Build your management expertise with four courses in the Management Core, including Strategic HR Management and Logistics Management.

From there, immerse yourself in LEAN project management methodologies, and prepare for Lean Six Sigma certification.

Complete the program with electives like Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Lean Healthcare to match your career goals.

How to Apply

The Master of Science in industrial management degree is designed to prepare you for employment in management, administration or leadership in industry, business, government or education. Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.

There are additional requirements for international students, such as a detailed international transcript evaluation, which determines an applicant's degree comparability to a U.S. bachelor's degree (UT Tyler does NOT evaluate international transcripts). Review application requirements for international graduate students.

Applicants with three or more years of extensive managerial work experience (earned in the U.S. or with a U.S. government entity) may request to have the GMAT requirement waived by the program adviser. This decision is made on a case-by-case basis; "extensive managerial experience" typically means a full-time supervisory or managerial position held for a significant period of time after completing the bachelor's degree, as demonstrated with a résumé.
