Biography

Ericka Robinson-Freeman is a licensed clinical social worker who has experience in the following fields: child welfare, healthcare social work with children and families, mental health, and hospice. Robinson-Freeman began her career in social work with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS), where she worked with families of medically fragile children as a caseworker and, then, supervisor in urban and outlying counties. While with CPS, Robinson-Freeman also served as student field instructor for a county-funded family outreach unit. Her experience also includes court testimony, foster and adoptive home studies, community stakeholder presentations, and program administration. Following her time with CPS, Robinson-Freeman worked as a case manager for a pediatric home health agency serving families with children with life-limiting illnesses, as a direct service provider for local hospice agencies (specifically those serving veterans and persons with mental health disparities), as a family and group therapist at a behavioral health inpatient center, and as a child therapist at a rural population-serving foster agency. As an educator, she received the BSW educator of the year by the UT Arlington School of Social Work in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Robinson-Freeman was awarded an IDEAS Faculty Fellowship in 2018 and a Service Learning Faculty Fellowship in 2017. Robinson-Freeman served for the last seven years as an officer of both the Tarrant County Child Protective Services Board and the Community Partners of Tarrant County Board.
