Dr. Arthur Williams’ research focuses on artificial intelligence, cognitive modeling,
and robotics. He earned his Ph.D. in Computational Science from Middle Tennessee State University,
where his research combined cognitively inspired working memory models with reinforcement learning to investigate how artificial agents can retain and use relevant information
for learning and decision-making.
His research has since expanded to multi-agent reinforcement learning, large language
models (LLMs), vision-language models (VLMs), and embodied AI. Prior to joining UT Tyler,
Dr. Williams conducted postdoctoral research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s Center
for Applied Scientific Computing. His current research explores how principles of cognition, memory, and reasoning can be integrated into AI systems to create more adaptive and
capable intelligent agents.
