Biography
Dr. Markle comes to UT Tyler, having most recently served as Chief Innovation Officer
for Tyler ISD, where he worked closely with the Superintendent to develop and advance
district-wide initiatives, bolster community partnerships, and support strategic implementation
across campuses. He previously served as principal of Caldwell Arts Academy, where
he established a strong record of enhancing instructional programs, building high-performing
teams and driving continuous improvement. This culminated in the school being awarded
the first district National Blue Ribbon designation and the National Terrell Bell
Award for Outstanding School Leadership.
Throughout his career, Dr. Markle has kept student success as the priority while leading
complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders. He brings a collaborative leadership
approach that is grounded in data-informed decision-making and a commitment to developing
talent within organizations. With experience spanning both campus and district leadership,
he is uniquely positioned to further enhance the collaboration between Tyler ISD and
UT Tyler through the 1882 Partnership.
