Dr. Fujiwara graduated from Kitasato University School of Pharmacy in Japan. He received
a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Kanazawa University and further obtained postdoctoral
training at the University of California San Diego from 2008 to 2012. Dr. Fujiwara
held faculty positions at Kitasato University, University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences, and Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). At NEOMED, he was the Interim
Director of Pipeline Programs in the Office of Student Success. Dr. Fujiwara joined
the University of Texas at Tyler as the Assistant Dean of Student Success and an Associate
Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Health Outcomes in June
of 2025. He has more than 60 research publications in the areas of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics,
toxicology, and education. He is an editorial board member of Drug Metabolism Reviews,
Pharmacology Research & Perspectives, the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and
Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning. His teaching areas are Pharmaceutics,
Pharmacokinetics, and Pharmaceutical Calculations. He received Teacher of the Year
awards in 2021, 2023, and 2025.
