Anisa Arvizu

B.S. in Sociology - East Texas A&M University

M.Ed. in Urban Higher Education - University of Illinois Chicago

Anisa serves as the New Student Programs Coordinator at The University of Texas at Tyler, where she gets to do what she loves most: create opportunities for students to connect, get involved, and feel at home on campus. Her higher education experience includes working with commuter, transfer, new, and adult learner students, giving her a passion for helping students navigate their college experience and find their people along the way.

In her current role, Anisa oversees Orientation and Swoop Camp, supervises student staff, and coordinates programming for first-year, transfer, and first-generation students. She also leads a first-year peer mentorship program focused on helping students build connections, navigate their first year, and make the most of their time at UT Tyler. She especially enjoys creating fun, welcoming programs that turn campus into a place where students genuinely want to be.

Anisa is also a proud member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. When she’s not on campus, you can usually find her spending time with family, planning her next trip, or at a concert singing along to her favorite artists. She believes the best college experiences are built around community, connection, and a little bit of fun!
