The University of Texas at Tyler is using a $100,000 Reskilling Texas Workers Grant to help displaced workers and students continue their education and aid in their economic recovery from COVID-19.

The funds target Texas residents who have not attended a college or university for at least six months, have enough credits to be classified as a senior and are interested in completing their education with a Bachelor of Applied Arts (BAAS) degree or the RN to BSN degree.

“These funds are intended to help those who may be a few credits from earning a degree return to college,” said Colleen Swain, PhD, UT Tyler associate provost for undergraduate and online education. “Because of the economic consequences of COVID, they may have delayed completing a degree, or they may have lost jobs and need to reskill.”

Funded by the Governor’s Emergency Educational Relief (GEER) Fund, the reskilling grant covers tuition and fees for summer and fall 2021. Applicants must submit the FAFSA and show eligibility for financial aid.
