The East Texas Big Event

Community Wide Day of Service

The East Texas Big Event is a collaborative service project hosted by The University of Texas at Tyler, Tyler Junior College and The City of Tyler. 

The East Texas Big Event will be on Saturday, February 28, 2026 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Check-in begins at 8:30 AM at Bergfeld Park amphitheater: 1510 S College Ave, Tyler, TX 75702. Volunteers will meet at Bergfeld Park amphitheater for breakfast and official welcome and then disperse to service locations. Service locations will be communicated with participants when they check in. If you desire to be stationed together with a certain group, please arrive all together to check in. 

After the event, all participants are encouraged to attend the UT Tyler Women's basketball game at 1:00 PM or UT Tyler Men's basketball game at 3:00 PM for free lunch. Show your lanyard to redeem. Location: Herrington Patriot Center (UT Tyler Campus). **After the morning welcome and check-in, there will be no further activities at Bergfeld Park. 

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes; dress appropriately for the weather. Projects can include lifting, cleaning, painting, and other physical activities. If you have accessibility needs, please indicate such on the registration form. Weather will be monitored and any cancellations will be communicated the Friday beforehand via the email address you provide in your registration. 

T-Shirts and breakfast will be provided to all volunteers at check-in. Registrations are open to UT Tyler, City of Tyler, and TJC affiliates only.
