The FCOP tuition rate is similar to other colleges of pharmacy which do not receive state funding.
Tuition includes fees and other academic expenses associated with the Pharm.D. program including:
- Courses taken at UT Tyler as part of the Pharm.D. curriculum;
- UT Tyler required student fees such as student services fees, instructional support fee, intercollegiate athletics fee, medical service fee, recreational facility fee, student union fee, etc.;
- Electronic texts for required Pharm.D. courses; and
- Access to physical textbooks for required Pharm.D. courses when electronic texts are not available.
The tuition does not cover:
- UT Tyler courses taken to satisfy the Texas Core Curriculum or another degree program;
- Elective courses that are not approved as part of the Pharm.D. curriculum;
- Course audit fees for courses at UT Tyler and/or FCOP.
- Books & supplies for elective Pharm.D. coursework, non-Pharm.D. approved coursework, or Texas Core Curriculum courses;
- Costs associated with on campus housing, meal plans, and parking; and
- Late fees for registration, payment installment fees and emergency loan origination fees for the cashier’s office, parking tickets, etc.
All tuition and fee charges are billed according to the Texas Education Code Chapter 54 and the University of Texas Board of Regents. Students may not enter a class or laboratory until payment of tuition and fees has been arranged. Payment due dates and times are published by the UT Tyler Cashiers Office. Students will be dropped from all classes for nonpayment after the published deadline.
In the first two years of the program, students enroll in classes each Fall and Spring semester. Starting in third professional year, students begin their six-week Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) in the summer immediately prior to the fourth year.
Tuition Costs (In-State and Out-of-State)
Full-time and part-time credit hour costs include the required fees for UT Tyler. Tuition for the academic year beyond 2023-2024 has not yet been established. Starting in Year 3 (Summer), students are required to take 6 APPE rotations. A student may elect to take a optional 7th rotation at no additional cost, space permitting. The cost per semester is the same regardless of the number of sessions completed in the semester.

Part-Time Tuition Rates
Students may, on occasion, take coursework during the summer (year 1 and 2) or take a reduced academic load in the fall and/or spring. Tuition and fees for part-time enrollment is based upon the number of semester credit hours taken per session. There is no part-time enrollment for students on their APPEs.

Tuition Payment Dates, Payment Plans, Emergency Loans, and Textbook Loan Programs
Pharmacy students may enroll in a five (5)-installment payment plan or an Emergency Loan each fall and spring semester. The installments plan and the Emergency Loan covers the expenses for tuition and fees as well as housing, meal plans and textbooks paid to UT Tyler for the semester. Tests, off campus textbook purchases, supplies, insurance or other expenses are not covered by payment plans. The five (5)-installment plan is not available for the summer semesters. Additional information on tuition payment dates, payment plans, emergency loans, and textbook loan programs is available through the the UT Tyler Cashier's Office.
Cost of Attendance Planning Guide
There are anticipated expenses that are associated with attending the FCOP. Some of these expenses will occur in specific years of the program, while others occur annually. These expenses are not included in the Pharm.D. tuition.
Students enrolled into the Pharm.D. program are recognized by UT Tyler as graduate/professional students whether or not the student has completed a bachelor’s degree. Candidates applying to the Pharm.D. program or who are enrolled in the program, can request graduate/professional level financial aid when submitting their FAFSA and indicating UT Tyler on the application (FAFSA Code 011163). Typically students will apply for more than one financial aid program. Financial aid options include, but are not limited to Direct Unsubsidized Loans, Direct Graduate PLUS Loans, and Private Loans.
Financial aid is typically requested each spring for the next fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students requesting financial aid for summer coursework may request aid for those courses along at the same time as the fall and spring semesters. Additional information on financial aid options is available through UT Tyler Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.
- Undergraduate-Level Financial Aid: Students completing the undergraduate pharmacy prerequisites may be candidates for undergraduate-level financial aid and scholarships.
- Professional- and Graduate-Level Financial Aid: Students who are accepted into the Pharm.D. program are recognized by UT Tyler as graduate/professional students whether or not the student has completed a baccalaureate degree. Students considering financial aid options should be evaluating graduate/professional level financial aid for the fall semester and onward. Financial aid requests require the FAFSA to be submitted to The University of Texas at Tyler, Code 011163.
Tuition Exemptions and Waivers
Pharm.D. students are typically not eligible for tuition exemptions or waivers. Exceptions may include when a Pharm.D. student takes non-pharmacy courses during the first and second summer of the program or if a student is eligible for a federally sponsored exemption.
- Tuition exemptions are a type of financial assistance that allows certain Texas residents to attend a public college or university in Texas without paying tuition, or in some cases, tuition and fees. Pharm.D. students are not eligible for state supported tuition exemptions (e.g. Hazlewood Exemption). However, students may be eligible for federal programs. Tuition exemptions may apply to students taking classes at UT Tyler during the first and second summers during the program.
- Tuition waivers allow certain students who are not Texas residents to reduce the cost of tuition to in-state rates. The Pharm.D. tuition rate is the same for in-state and out-of-state students, therefore these waivers would not apply for college of pharmacy classes. Waivers may apply to students taking classes at UT Tyler during the first and second year summer semesters.
Incoming first year pharmacy students who have previously taken coursework at UT Tyler may apply for scholarships designated for returning students. Current pharmacy students with no prior coursework at UT Tyler become eligible for scholarships designated for returning UT Tyler students after the first professional year. UT Tyler Scholarships range in criteria, requirements and amounts. Interested students should contact the College of Pharmacy Office of Student Affairs for additional information.

Free Tuition for Qualifying Incoming and Current Pharmacy Students
Incoming pharmacy students who meet certain GPA requirements may qualify for a 100% reduction of tuition and fees for their first year in the curriculum. Current pharmacy students who meet certain requirements may also qualify for the reduction. The scholarship is available on an annual merit-based renewal, so incoming and current students may qualify for the award each year.
Qualifications for incoming Pharm.D. candidate students:
- Minimum 3.5 GPA in all science and math courses;
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA;
- Meet all requirements of admission.
Qualifications for Pharm.D. candidate students:
- Minimum 3.75 cumulative GPA;
- Must be in good academic standing;
- Must be taking at least 12 credit hours per semester;
- No professionalism alerts;
- Provide 30 to 45 hours per semester of peer-tutoring or Fisch College of Pharmacy activities every qualifying academic year (such as assistance at recruiting events).
External Scholarships, Loan Repayment and Tuition Assistance Programs
Students may apply for scholarships and tuition assistance programs through specific funding organizations. These applications are outside of the College of Pharmacy. In addition, many national organizations and corporations may have scholarships and/or tuition assistance programs available for their student members and/or employees.
