About the Director

Susan Doty is a Distinguished Senior Lecturer in Economics and Distinguished Teaching Professor for the University of Texas at Tyler, where she has taught over 8,500 undergraduate students. She has been recognized for excellent teaching with multiple honors, including the University of Texas System Regents Outstanding Teaching Award (the ROTA).Doty is a Faculty Fellow of the UT System Academy of Distinguished Teachers and both a Founding Fellow and Past President of the UT Tyler Academy of Distinguished Teachers.

In addition to her faculty role at UT Tyler, she is the Founding and Executive Director of the Center for Economic Education and Financial Literacy (CEEFL).  In this role, she has raised over half a million dollars to benefit thousands of teachers and students in Northeast Texas. Doty has served on the boards of multiple not for profit organizations, including the Council for Economic Education, the National Association of Economic Educators where she is a past president, Council for Economic Education in New York, the National Association of Economic Educators, the Global Economic Education Alliance, and the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Finance. 

She has worked with financial industry colleagues on projects related to children and wealth to support financial advisors. This past year, Doty launched a new program called First Responder Finance.
