Our special appreciation for the job Francisco and Angel have done to support ETEC and to lead the Business Innovation Group as President and Vicepresident, respectively.

Angel Perez is a Senior Mechanical Engineering student and aspiring entrepreneur at UT Tyler. He works as a research assistant at The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. His research project is 3D printing human tissue for cancer disease modeling. He is President of The Business Innovation Group and has been since its inauguration.

He got involved with The LaunchPad because of his drive to connect with like-minded people and mentors. His ventures pertain to 3D printing and biotechnologies. The LaunchPad has helped him in his efforts by advising him on his ideas and connecting him with like-minded individuals.

Angel has a professional certification from MIT for innovative design and production in 3D printing. He is passionate about innovative manufacturing technologies and their influence on the future.

Outside of the laboratory, he likes to spend time cooking, reading and exercising.

Francisco Perez is a Mechanical Engineering major and undergraduate research assistant at UT Tyler. He is currently Vice President of the Business Innovation Group and an aspiring entrepreneur.

He got involved with the Launchpad because he realized the importance of going above and beyond when seeking mentors and the impact they can have on your career. The Launchpad has helped him by providing a hub with all the information needed to form a successful startup and people who can answer any questions he may have.

Francisco has published research titled: "Plants as the first responder to adverse environmental conditions" on SPIE and hopes to publish more papers in the coming year.

He plans to graduate in May '24 and apply for a Ph.D. program in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on Biomechanical engineering. After that, he intends to work in academic research while patenting his findings and creating startups.

When he is not in a lab coat, Francisco enjoys playing soccer, reading, and making music.
