Biography

As the Associate Director of the ETEC (ETX Launchpad), Andy’s work provides training and development programs that support local entrepreneurs, student entrepreneurs, and small businesses in the East Texas region by assessing their needs for skills, resources, and knowledge to develop and enhance their organizations' performance, leveraging university resources.

Andy is passionate about supporting student-created ventures, assessing their training needs, and equipping them with resources to enhance the likelihood of successfully launching and developing sustainable companies in the East Texas region.

Andy joined the East Texas Entrepreneurship Center in 2021 after graduating with his master’s degree in industrial management from UT Tyler in 2020. He is a native Costa Rican who began his career in the hospitality industry and ran a small business while earning his bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Tourism Business Management. He arrived in the United States in 2014 with a full academic scholarship supported by Tyler Sisters Cities, Tyler Junior College, and The University of Texas at Tyler (2014-2018). After falling in love with the community, he decided to join ETEC to help small businesses and entrepreneurs in the area succeed and improve their lives.
