CONTRACTOR SAFETY PLAN
All on-site contractors should comply with necessary Health and Safety requirements while on UT Tyler campuses. Contractors should become familiar with these requirements and ensure that all employees and subcontractors are aware and compliant. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to establish the appropriate organization, training, and on-site inspections to assure that all personnel working on campus (employees and subcontractors) comply with the safety requirements listed in the link. The Contractor should establish a safety meeting/communication method through which on-site personnel are made aware of these requirements and the importance of complying with such requirements. Contractors and/or Subcontractors will be held to UT Tyler's standards and will be required to provide a Safety Plan. Contractor Safety Plan
CONSTRUCTION SAFETY PROGRAMS
Construction is a frequent occurrence at the University of Texas at Tyler campuses where students, faculty, staff, and workers can be exposed to a variety of safety hazards such as falling objects, working from rooftops or scaffolding, or exposure to heavy construction equipment, among other activities. Projects at UT Tyler involve the construction of new buildings, renovations of existing facilities, and major repair or alterations of building systems. All contractors hired to work on UT Tyler campuses for construction projects, special services, and events are expected to follow UT Tyler programs, in addition to OSHA regulations and industry best practices. OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY PROGRAMS
Occupational safety is a broad term used to describe a variety of services related to the promotion and maintenance of workplace and employee health, including respiratory protection and hearing conservation. In addition to ensuring our work environments (from construction sites to office buildings) have safety precautions in place to prevent injuries, UT Tyler’s EH&S Department will work to limit both short-term and long-term hazards that could lead to physical or mental illness now or in the future. These programs apply to all faculty, staff, students, and contractors whose job responsibilities require the use of respiratory protection or who perform activities associated with workplace noise exposure or potential exposure to a hazardous environment.
