UT Tyler will participate in Dia de la Educacion for prospective Hispanic students and their families on Saturday, Feb. 4, Sarah Bowdin,
admissions director, announced.
Dia de la Educacion is designed to provide the students and their families an opportunity to experience
a college campus firsthand. UT Tyler and Tyler Junior College are the host campuses.
Participants will meet at John Tyler High School, Robert E. Lee High School or Douglas
Elementary and be transported to TJC for breakfast and UT Tyler for lunch. There will
be presentations at each institution. All sessions will be in Spanish.
UT Tyler speakers will include Bowdin; Jesse Acosta, associate vice president for
administration; and Carlos Alvarez, enrollment services officer.
Shuttle transportation will be provided.
Program sponsors are Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Business Alliance, Hispanic
American Association of East Texas, Tyler Independent School District, Tyler Area
P-16 Council, TJC and UT Tyler.
