Students from The University of Texas at Tyler College of Engineering recently visited Westlake in Longview to witness engineering in action.
The 14 UT Tyler students toured the facility and gained firsthand insights into the manufacturing processes behind products that shape everyday life. The visit also included a lunch with Westlake engineers and a question-and-answer session.
“Site visits are an impactful way for students to engage in career education and exploration,” said Margot Purdy, UT Tyler College of Engineering career success coach. “They provide tremendous value, and students ask insightful questions as they connect what they’re learning in class to what they see on site. Westlake provided a fantastic experience, and we’re grateful for the opportunity.”
Coordinated by the university’s career success office in collaboration with the college, the visit is part of an ongoing effort to enrich career readiness through experiential learning and industry engagement, Purdy added.
