Admission Requirements

Admission requires approval by departmental Graduate Affairs Committee and the Graduate Program Coordinator.

Test Score Required: No

Additional requirements for applicants with bachelor’s degrees from foreign institutions include Proof of English Proficiency and an International Transcript Evaluation as outlined here.

GPA: Bachelor's degree in science with a major in biology or a closely related field from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 or equivalent. A satisfactory grade point average on all prior advanced (junior, senior and graduate) work taken.

Letters of Recommendation: Not required but highly encouraged

Resume/Curriculum Vitae: Yes

Admissions Essay: Yes - a statement of research interests

Consideration may also be given to one or more of the following: the applicant's demonstrated commitment to his or her chosen field of study, socioeconomic background, first generation college graduate, multilingual proficiency, geographic region of residence, and level of responsibility in other matters including extracurricular activities, employment, community service, and family responsibilities.
