Steps to using Military Tuition Assistance at UT Tyler

UT Tyler proudly supports active duty and reserve service members in pursuing higher education through Military Tuition Assistance (TA).

Regardless of your branch of service, TA only covers the cost of tuition, and not any associated fees.

UT Tyler's tuition rate often exceeds the tuition caps published by each service, especially for graduate students. The most recent tuition rate information is available here. Students are responsible for all costs not covered by TA, which must be paid by the published tuition deadlines.


Using TA at UT Tyler

  1. Consult Your Educational Services Officer (ESO). Before applying to or enrolling at UT Tyler, speak with your unit's ESO. Each military branch has specific TA requirements and processes.

  2. Apply for TA through Your Service Branch. After consulting your ESO, apply for TA via your branch's TA portal:
  3. Obtain Necessary UT Tyler Information: You may need specific documents from UT Tyler for your TA application, such as degree plans, course information, or the tuition/fee schedule. To request these, email MVSC@uttyler.edu with:
    • Student's Full Name
    • Branch of Service
    • Last 4 of SSN
    • UT Tyler Student ID Number
    • Information Requested (degree plan, course information, tuition/fee schedule)

TA Payment Processing

Once your TA has been approved by your service AND you have registered for your classes, you will need to enroll in the MVSC Canvas course. 

To be enrolled, you will email a copy of your class schedule to MVSC@uttyler.edu
