Outside Activities and Interests Reporting

Office of Compliance

The Annual Disclosure Period for reporting outside activities and interests runs January through March 31 each year (Note: March 31 is a hard deadline). In addition, new employees are required to report within 30 days of their date of hire.

All full-time faculty and full-time administrative and professional staff must:

  • Acknowledge the policies and answer status questions in the Portal.
  • Ensure all reporting required by the Decision Matrix has been completed in the Portal for 2019.
  • Submit requests for re-approval for outside employment and board service that is new or continuing into 2020 where indicated by Decision Matrix – Category 3.

For full-time faculty:

  • If you have nothing to report, please select “Report No Activity” in the Portal.

Employees who are not full-time faculty or full-time administrative and professional staff (classified, non-exempt, etc.) may also have reporting requirements as described in the Decision Matrix – Category 3, Category 4, Category 5, or General Rule. These requirements apply to employees who:

  • Outside employment, teaching, and board service that require prior approval.
  • Engage in the design, conduct, or reporting of research.
  • Participate in procurement activities over $15,000.
  • Have an outside activity or interest that may reasonably appear, in the eyes of a third party observer, to create a conflict of interest or interfere with their University responsibilities.

Additional reporting is required for new interests and activities that arise throughout the year.
