Biography

Rich H. Kenney, Jr., is a Professor of Practice in Social Work and the Social Work Program Director at the University of Texas at Tyler. Prior to coming to UT Tyler in 2020, he was the Social Work Program Director at Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska for eight years. With nearly three decades of direct experience in special education, geriatric care, hospice, corrections and homelessness, he holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin (MSSW), and the University of Arizona at Tucson (BA). The recipient of a Creative Writing Fellowship from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Kenney has also contributed commentaries to National Public Radio. He has written several articles for The New Social Worker, Social Work Today, and Exceptional Parent.
