Community College Pathways to the Houston Engineering Center
Your journey begins at Houston City College or another community college. After earning
your associate degree, transfer to the Houston Engineering Center to take junior-
and senior-level coursework for a Bachelor of Science in engineering from UT Tyler.

The UT Tyler Houston Engineering Center partners with community colleges in the Greater
Houston area to offer streamlined pathways to a four-year engineering degree.

|
An associate degree in engineering will help you develop your skills. You’ll be introduced
to engineering as a discipline and profession, receiving instruction in the application
of mathematical and scientific principles to uncover solutions to practical problems.

Students admitted to UT Tyler are automatically admitted to the baccalaureate degree
program at HEC. For transfer students, requirements to be admitted to the university
are a 2.0 cumulative GPA and 30 completed credit hours. You’re advised to complete
your application within a semester of transferring.
