Ratliff Relays
The Ratliff Relays are an Olympic-style competition comprising various events that encompass all aspects of the engineering discipline. First held in 2022, the Ratliff Relays are named in honor of former Texas Lieutenant Governor Bill Ratliff, who worked as a consulting civil engineer for thirty years prior to entering public service.
The Ratliff Relays’ primary purpose is to engage students of the College of Engineering with faculty and industry members, fostering a sense of community and promoting collaboration through competition, thereby enabling students to develop their skills in their respective fields of engineering.
The Relays provide students with the opportunity to contend with an open-ended practical engineering problem. The bulk of the activities that form the competitions are analogues for the real-world skills that practicing engineers and project managers in the new millennium must possess.
