Tobacco-Free Campus for Students

If you are a STUDENT of UT Tyler, several tobacco cessation programs are available to you:

Student Counseling Center

Students may also contact the Student Counseling Center to set up an appointment to receive one-on-one counseling regarding tobacco cessation. The Student Counseling Center is open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Please see the on-campus Health Clinic for additional details on how you can utilize their services to obtain pharmaceutical therapy and nicotine replacement therapy and prescriptions.

Academic Health Plans (AHP)

For students who are enrolled in the student insurance plan with Academic Health Plans, please contact Academic Health Plans. To enroll in the plan, please contact AHP at 855.247.7587. Health Within Texas: Texas Tobacco Quitline

You can also contact the Texas Tobacco Quitline at YesQuit.com or 877-YES-QUIT (877.937.7848) for additional assistance with quitting smoking and/or usage of tobacco products. The Texas Tobacco Quiline can get you connected to a quit coach who will conduct counseling sessions tailored specifically to you, with a focus on your preparation for the quit attempt and long-term success. They also provide access to self-help booklets designed to keep you motivated and prepared for life without smoking or tobacco and give advice about support programs available in the Tyler community.

You can also contact the National Cancer Institute as well to get connected to a smoking cessation counselor who is available to answer questions Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. (CST) via telephone 877-44U-QUIT (877.448.7848).
