Due to hazardous road conditions in the Longview area, the Longview University Center will remain closed for Wednesday, Jan. 17.

The main campus, Palestine Campus and the Health Science Center non-essential academic employees will proceed with a 10 a.m. delayed start on Jan. 17.

Clinical employees will follow UT Health East Texas clinical operations, and the Houston Engineering Center will follow Houston Community College operations.

To allow road conditions to continue to improve, UT Tyler will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17. 

The delayed start will affect the main campus, Longview University Center, Palestine Campus and the Health Science Center non-essential academic employees.

Clinical employees will follow UT Health East Texas clinical operations, and the Houston Engineering Center will follow Houston Community College operations.

Please travel carefully and be aware of road conditions so that you arrive safely.



Monday, Jan. 15 – UT Tyler Closed Jan. 16

Due to current and forecasted weather and road conditions, UT Tyler will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 16, to help ensure the safety of our students and employees. The closure will affect the main campus, Longview University Center, Palestine Campus and the Health Science Center non-essential academic employees.
 
Clinical employees will follow UT Health East Texas clinical operations. Houston Engineering Center will follow Houston Community College operations.
 
Residence Life and Student Engagement will continue to provide support for residential students. Food service and snack boxes/bags will be available. Please contact Resident or Housing Assistants with questions.
 
Any weather impacts concerning Wednesday, Jan. 17, will be communicated.

Current weather forecasts for Monday, Jan. 15, include the potential for hazardous weather conditions in some East Texas areas. University officials will be monitoring the weather and will communicate any operational updates as needed for Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 16, the first day of spring semester classes.
 
While UT Tyler will be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Student Engagement and Residence Life have plans to provide support for residential students should weather conditions warrant such.
 
Any operational updates will include the main campus, Longview University Center, Palestine Campus and the Health Science Center non-essential academic employees. Clinical staff are to follow guidelines from UT Health East Texas.
 
Houston Engineering Center will follow the Houston Community College calendar.
