The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center announced recently that it will offer a summer camp that demonstrates how technology directly impacts daily life.

The 3D Printing and Robotics Summer Camp provides hands-on experience using computer graphics, manufacturing techniques and robotics. The camp will be 1 - 5 p.m. July 9 - 13 at the UT Tyler LUC.

Campers will learn to transfer design ideas from paper to 3D model; program a robotic arm; and assemble and launch rockets made from 3D printed parts.

Registration fee is $212 and includes all camp materials, field trip, a t-shirt and snacks. Register by 5 p.m. Monday, June 18 at uttyler.edu/camps.

"As technology has become an essential part of our everyday life, we see 3D printing and robotics emerging. This camp experience will introduce participants to industrial technology, which is an exciting career field that will allow them to design and create real-world products," said Dr. Amir Mirmiran, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

UT Tyler offers a bachelor's degree in industrial technology, also known as applied engineering. Industrial technology prepares students to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in industrial engineering and industrial management settings.

A member of the prestigious UT System, The University of Texas at Tyler focuses on student success and innovative research in the more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered. With more than 10,000 students, UT Tyler has facilities in Tyler, Longview, Palestine and Houston.
